German Lithograph by Wilhelm Creuzbauer, ca 1840s. (Lith Anst v. Creuzbauer, Carlsruhe) Moses holding The Ten Commandments of God / Die Zehn Gobote Gottes, Liebe Deinen Narhsten Wie Dirch Selbst / Love Your Neighbor Like Yourself. Some water marks and one small tear at top, otherwise in good condition. Lithograph 24" x 19", frame is 30" x 24 1/2" x 1 1/2"...after Gemalt a Phillippe de Champagne (1602 - 1674) Wilhelm Creuzbauer (1803 - 1883) was an art printer, bookseller, and publisher in Karlsruhe Germany. Creuzbauer founded an art publushing house in 1831 and an art print shop in Karlsruhe in 1836, the Creuzbauer bookstore. Creuzbauer along with Franz Noldeke founded the J. Velten'sche book and music shop. However they split in 1842 and Creuzbauer continued the musical treatment and Noldeke continued the book and art studies. In 1846 Creyzbayer joined with William Hasper as Creuzbauer & Hasper. George Creuzbauer later joined as a partner in the publishing house and the firm changed to W. Creuzbauer's Verlag. After the death of Wilhelm Creuzbauer in 1883 the publishing house was purchased by Josef Bielefeld.
