Roman Bronze of Mythical Hercules (Heracles) The muscular bearded hero depicted nude, standing with right leg relaxed and bent at the knee. His right hand holding gnarled club while lion skin draped over his left forearm. An attribute in his fisted left hand. Circa 1st - 3rd Century. Bronze 3" high and height on custom lucite stand is 5 1/2". In excellent condition. Hercules is the Roman name for the Greek divine hero Heracles, who was the son of Zeus (Roman equivalent Jupiter) and the mortal Alcmene. In classical mythology, Hercules is famous for his strength and for his numerous far-ranging adventures.
