Syro-Hittite Pottery Head of a Lion, Middle Bronze Age ca. 1800 BCE. Expressive face with curly mane. In excellent condition, 3/4" x 2" x 1 1/2". The states that are called Neo-Hittite or, more recently, Syro-Hittite were Luwian-, Aramaic- and Phoenician-speaking political entities of the Iron Age in northern Syria and southern Anatolia that arose following the collapse of the Hittite Empire in around 1180 BC and lasted until roughly 700 BCE.

Byzantine Bronze Head of a Griffin, ca. 5th - 6th Century CE. Found in the Holy Land. From the collection of Teddy Kollek, first mayor of unified Jerusalem. In excellent condition. 1 3/4" x 1/2" x 1/2", on custom lucite stand height is 4 1/2". Theodor "Teddy" Kollek was an Israeli politician who served as the mayor of Jerusalem from 1965 to 1993, and founder of the Jerusalem Foundation. Kollek was re-elected five times, in 1969, 1973, 1978, 1983 and 1989.

Roman Bronze Bull Head on 3 Rings, on custom stand, 3rd - 4th Century CE. 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1 1/4", on stand 4 1/4" high. Ex: B. Rhodes collection, Florida. In excellent condition. Bronze statues come to life differently than marble statues. Instead of carving a block or marble, the bronze artist uses the lost-wax technique to make a series of molds, and then pours melted bronze into the final mold to create the sculpture. This method has been around since 4500 BCE.
