Sold Only As A Pair: Early 20th Century Ceramic Foo Dogs, ca. 1920. Turquoise in color. Male with brocade ball and Female with pup climbing her body. 8 1/2" x 5" x 4 1/2" Small loss to lotus blossom and professional repair to one as seen in images. Otherwise in excellent condition. Foo dogs or lions are found near temples, gardens, entrances and homes . They are considered protectors of buildings and guard against evil spirits. Foo lions are always displayed as a pair and the male lion has a ball under one of its paws while the female has a pup under its paw.
