18th Century Russian Brass Crucifix, ca. 1750, time of Catherine the Great. Jesus at center, arms outstretched with sun and moon at fingertips. Bearded father kneeling at top and angels beneath. Village scene and grave with skull below. Raised lettering throughout with floral motif etched on reverse. 10 5/8" H x 5 5/8" W and in excellent condition.

Monumental Yoruba - Nigeria Gelede Wooden Body Mask of Iya Nla (Great Powerful Mother) Early 20th Century 54 H x 21" wide. Arms are available. Kept inside the Gelede Shrine, not danced but carried on a platform during Gelede, an annual festival honoring “our mothers” (awon iya wa), not so much for their motherhood, but as female elders. It takes place in the dry season (March-May) among the Yoruba people of south-west Nigeria and neighboring southeast Benin. Artifact in excellent condition.
