Limestone head possibly depicting Emperor Macrinus. Found in Cologne or Treves. His beard neatly detailed, the hair sculpted neatly around face, large heavy lids, recessed irises, and thinly curved lips. Some pigment remaining. Obvious damage to nose but otherwise in excellent condition. 2nd Century C.E., 18 1/2" high.
Stylized head of Griffin with deep eye sockets. With bulging eyes, hooked beak, and spiky mane. Folds on neck and above eyes. Basalt is the most common type of solidified lava; a dense dark gray fine-grained igneous rock that is composed chiefly of plagioclase feldspar and pyroxene. Circa 2nd Century C.E.
