Two sets of Roman Bronze Medical Instruments, Circa 37 B.C.E. - 324 C.E., various instruments include animal heads, probes and scoops. One set of five instruments at $1,700 and one set of three instruments at $1,500. Some encrustation but in excellent condition on custom lucite stands. Found in the Holy Land.
Large Roman Bronze Balance Scale with dual measuring bowls suspended on ancient chain. Several coins included. Circa 2nd - 3rd Century C.E., found in the Holy Land. On custom lucite stand measuring 15" H x 11 1/2" W. Some encrustation but in excellent condition.
Roman Bronze Eagle Head on custom stand, probably from a small knife. Circa 2nd - 3rd Century C.E. 1" high without stand. Small loss between eyes but otherwise in excellent condition.
The muscular bearded hero depicted nude, standing with right leg relaxed and bent at the knee. His right arm lowered, the lion skin draped over his left forearm. An attribute in his fisted left hand. Circa 1st - 3rd Century. Bronze 3" high and height on custom lucite stand is 5 1/2". In excellent condition.
Roman Bronze of muscular Orpheus, son of Apollo, inventor of the Lyre and chief poet and musician of antiquity, depicted nude and seated in wilderness he charms wild beasts including a turtle, goat, two serpents, salamander, and snail. Circa 1st - 3rd Century C.E. Bronze is 3 3/4" high and on custom lucite stand height is 5 3/4". Loss to both arms but in excellent condition.
Hollow cast, the stylized figure of a Nubian with incised curly hair, almond-shaped eyes, broad nose and mouth opened wide with facilitating attachment for pouring oil. Alexandrian, ca. 1st Century BCE. 1 3/4" high, In excellent condition.
Miniature Roman bronze figure of a bound Barbarian. Bearded figure with long hair seated and leaning forward. A rope tied around his neck, hands continuing down to his feet which are also bound. Pierced below and through the side for attachment. Cf. no. 105 in Merhav, et. al., A glimpse into the Past, The Joseph Ternbach collection. In excellent condition, 2nd Century CE. 1 3/4" high.
A miniature bronze male of abnormally small stature suffering from cretinism causing deformation of features, limbs, and appendages. Holding an amphora in left hand and right is misshapen. Incised features with short curly hair. Hellenistic circa 1st Century BCE. 2" high.
The Greek god Eros depicted as a young winged boy standing with weight on slightly bent left leg. Muscular body with outstretched arms. Right hand missing. Hair pulled back in to a chignon and falling in ringlets. Circa 1st - 3rd Century. In excellent condition. 2 1/2 high.
