This ancient Roman bronze lion-handle mask has fantastic patina. 3rd/6th century A.D. It is circular with highly raised features and three attachment holes. The lion is holding a ring in his gaping jaws, his teeth bared and tongue protruding. He has striated whiskers, prominent arched eyebrows, and a thick shaggy mane with a forward-curving tuft over his forehead. Excellent condition. 8 1/2" diameter (21.6 cm.)
