Splendid Middle Bronze Age II, Bronze Figure of a god, Canaanite, 2nd millenium BCE. Strong facial features with deep set eyes and long beard. Depicted in the nude with pronounced nipples, arms raised forward and small rounded feet. 3 3/4" high. In excellent condition. Middle Bronze Age I Tell el - Yahudiyeh ware juglet, found in Egypt but made by Jewish slaves, ca. 1800 BCE. The distinctive ware is characterized by the punctured design arranged in geometric patterns. Named after Tell el - Yahudiyeh in the Nile Delta, where W. F. Petrie first uncovered such juglets. Cone contains two columns of cuneiform text which is a royal inscription commemorating the building of a temple (Eninnu) by the famous ruler GUDEA (who ruled in the region of LAGASH in present day Southern Iraq) from 2144 - 2124 BCE.
