Yoruba, Nigeria Africa, wooden Shrine Panel, 19th Century. While the meaning of all of the carvings is not known, many images allude to two Yoruba gods, Eshu & Ogun, though they are never depicted. Eshu & Ogun are gods who cross boundaries. Other carved images also refer to the doors' function.
